innocent isn’t a queer story but it does include queer elements (for exemple charles kissing men), i wouldn’t say these kisses are platonic i think they’re symbolic.
-from what i remember is it character driven because the story focuses on whether charles henri sanson is innocent or not (from executing people), so we have a good amount of introspection on his character. the characters’ dynamics and relationships are well written too.
i wouldn’t say innocent feels like a textbook but there’s a reasonable amount of text; it’s not too much but when you’re tired it can becomes too much to read. but please read it nonetheless it’s not that much texts!!!
-concerning the story it’s really good. the narrative follows huge moments of charles’ life and correlates them with the climate post french revolution which brings another layer of depths to the story.
also the way the story is being told and the drawings’ quality really make reading innocent interesting and emotional (if i may say)
personally i’ve really enjoyed reading innocent, a bit less the sequel though, but it’s really a good manga!!
also even if it’s a dramatization of real events some events stay true to what actually happened but there’s still enough room that makes innocent what it is and not a history book with pretty drawings
anyways i hope if you ever read it you’ll enjoy it :)
Is innocent queer? Idk I’ve heard it’s zesty and that he’s kissing men but that it’s platonic??
- I’ve heard it’s good but is it character oriented/ is this character driven? I want a story with good characters but I also know it’s historical and I want it to still have heart and not feel like I’m just reading a textbook
-Is it a good story or is the art just good? Bc people with hype up a manga just for its good art which is important but then I feel like it might lack in story bc that’s all I hear about it.
