Lyle is upset not just because Ash didn't tell him about a major formative relationship but also because Ash's friends all seem to think Hazel was a better match (and are being insanely rude about it). Honestly if you're partner's friend group is so openly expressing that it's normal to wonder if your partner knows they feel that way and is, at the very least, comfortable with it
