I was JUST saying this to my husband. I could see MC being a second spouse after MLgers a kid or two...but otherwise ML is going to have to himself a bredable side piece.
( unless uncle or big bro have kids that would then inherit, but then what's the point of the ML being named successor)

The only "rule" they had was to marry whoever a previous king chose. The heir issue could be resolved using more modern means like a surrogate, or adopting a relatives kid.
But like...he'll need yo produce an heir tho
