I dont think it's that deep to require such a reaction, but you do
you lol ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
1) He knew that his nephew was kidnapped by a mage and the mage was caught & imprisoned.
He didn't know if anyone else was working with the mage and the OGvillainess that the FL possessed, was drowning in debts and just not a nice person.
It wouldn't have been out of character for the OGvillainess to work with the mage to extort money from the duke.
Plus the Duke didn't know *who* had hired the mage.
2) The nephew is a child and could've been magically brainwashed. Also, his nephew described the FL in a way that was totally out of character for the OGvillainess. Hence why both he and the knights didn't trust her.
3) His orphaned, WAILING and young nephew was throwing a fit, he felt he had no choice. However, did you notice that guards were ALWAYS posted outside near them wherever they were?
4) I genuinely think she just panicked and knew the Duke/Duke's knights would turn up
I do think this wasn't the smartest move , but I think she knew how ruthless the Duke is & how much he loved his nephew. Plus with the OGvillainess's reputation... ( ̄∇ ̄")
TBH I might've just dropped him by the gates.... I wouldn't want to risk being imprisoned either.
I just think this plot isn't for you, which is fair (▰˘◡˘▰)

When I see slop like this come out and get a manhwa when I know there are a million and one better novels that would kill for a chance I can't help but get angry ┑( ̄へ ̄)┍.
1. He still doesn't know who she is after she gets arrested. The knights are only treating her like crap because they think she kidnapped the kid. There was no real investigation just him throwing out accusations.
2. Again he and the knights still don't know who she is. And as someone who works in childcare and as a former child. I can wholeheartedly tell you there's nothing more frustrating than an adult who doesn't listen to a child especially a child who knows their telling the truth. He conducted no tests to see if the child was actually brainwashed (for HOURS because it was night when he called for her again) he again just made assumptions (off what the knights told him but assumptions nonetheless).
3. Now I don't know about you, but I would not want someone I assume is dangerous criminal around my child doesn't matter that he's an orphan or that he's crying. Children cry, scream, and have melt downs that's just what they do. Your responsibility as an adult moreover as a parent/guardian is to be just that a parent and know when to say no. From what he knows she already got past the guards the first time since she's a "mage". It's plain idiocy to give it another shot.
4. I got nothing to say since we mostly agree here lol ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I can handle dumb plots but I at least want the story to pretend! So, I'm definitely not the audience for this one.
1. The Duke's an idiot for thinking she's involved because all he would have to do is check if she's a mage since the kid was kidnapped by a mage.
2. The Duke's an idiot + a jackass ten times over for not just asking the child what happened and not believing anything he said.
3. Duke is still a fucking idiot for making her take care of his kid when he's still under the impression she's somehow mind controlling him.
4. FL is an idiot for not just bringing the child to knights when she heard what happened. Like why is she making bread she just found out who the child's guardian is and knows he is not to be messed with. In a way she is now a kidnapper for knowing the child's guardian was looking for him and didn't immediately go to the knights to report she found him.
Moral of the story. Stupid all around I only read like 3 or 5 chapters and I could feel my brain cells dying.
