brett's words break my heart because it might sound like he's nonchalant about it but i can't help but to be bothered (and i'm sure hayden will too). it's the sense that he doesn't think much of his situation (or at least how i understood his actions) that he kind of disregards his own well being, because he doesn't think that he's worth that hassle. he's been like that too for the past chapters — notably being hurt physically, but he doesn't mind it that much. it's just sad.
