well, back then status really mattered (not saying it doesn’t show in our current society now). if two people were to get married & one of them has a lower status than their spouse, having a baby together will elevate their status & for the in-laws as well.
( ･_･) how is her having a baby even going to elevate the brother's status? Like.. what is the connection? I am legit confused.
