Why is everyone hating the ML? The FL is awesome even with her flaws, but the ML is an undeserving and horrible man for having flaws too?
The only issue here is they both weren't making an effort to see where the other stood. They were BOTH caught up in the kind of fiance the other person OUGHT TO be, and they were both wrong.
The ML thought the FL had not much more to show other than her aristocratic nature and breeding, and after a cruel war he wanted a loving family, which he wasn't sure he would get with her.
The FL thought the ML was disregarding the promise and pact between families, and was a cold and apathetic person, and she wasn't willing to go the distance to communicate and grow closer, because she was expecting an unfeeling, aristocratic marriage.
They both do not know how to be in relationships and they are both flawed.
It is awesome to see them both be themselves and still get closer together, because they both like the actual person they end up seeing. This seems like an actual interesting relationship on both ends, instead of a cardboard-insert ML who has no personality apart from loving the FL and hating everyone who touches the FL.
