I'm only in the 80 something chapters, but I have a suspicion they may have been a couple a 1000 years ago. I sus Kian was the last god that was killed, because the blond "crown" (who may have been a god too) was in love with her as well, so he brainwashed capt. to kill his rival. (history repeating itself - star crossed lovers)
BUT this is all in my head, we'll see how things play out.
