There's definitely something to be said for just saying the thing and not beating around the bush for 30 chapters.
I think that's what gets me with a lot of stories: can y'all not just talk with each other?
Oh, right. Then the story would be over in 10 chapters, and the MC wouldn't get to feel all hurt because the ML can't read his mind.
