U could see the flash scene of the funeral where they've met for the first time lol i dont think tae seung meant it in a student to student way.
But in that scene, Soo-Young was only crying in a corner, right? Didn't Tae-Seung say Soo-Young punched him as a student? I'm confused.

It's true. There are many times where we see his thoughts. Firstly ch. 3. There we get the first impression. When sooyoung beats taeseung up. He asks him "did we meet before" or something like that.
Than ch. 25 we are able too see a glimpse into his memories. You can recognize the school hall and also the school uniform they are wearing. Taeseung describes how he was beaten up by sooyoung the first time they met.
Then later at the half of the story we see the hole background of taeseung's life. Where he inherited the group but to proof himself worthy he had to kill sooyoung's uncle. They were still in school age. So, taeseung let his frustration out by starting fights with random students. Then sooyoung got between them and won against taeseung.
That was the last time mentioning.
And now at the end taeseung reveales it.
