Actually, sometimes it is... (I have a 14 year old female dog, so I should know xD)

My 12 year old golden retriever peed with her leg up all the time. I remember thinking the first time I saw it "mirabell you know you're a girl?"
I had a female dog that peed that way too! I don't think she realized she was a girl though because she was always around male dogs haha
My dog is a male and he squats to pee. I guess it's whatever the dog prefers to do ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Its kinda hard to explain but when they go to pee; instead of lifting their legs, they bend them, as if they are going to sit but not all the way dow. like I said, its kinda hard to explain
