Dude's brain dead response was that the girl was his cousin's maternal uncle's daughter, so how can they be considered closely related. Animals with half his neuron density are smarter. When challenged if he'd be okay even if this was between two paternal cousins, he was disgusted and it took him an inappropriately long amount of time to reasons that maternal cousins are just as closely related as paternal cousins and equally as family. Apparently, people back in the day were so fucked in the head that they apparently believed that the father is sole genetic parent of the child and mother contributes nothing.
