
It is bad. If he ended up in a good psychiatric hospital, that would actually be good for him. But unfortunately, psychiatry especially when we go decades back like here, wasn't exactly known to treat patients kindly. It is a wildly evolving field and back then it's a good chance that he ended up in a place that doesn't treat mentally disabled people with the empathy and care they deserve. I'm not saying he was tortured or something obviously, that's unrealistic and cartoonish but living a life in a hospital that doesn't show much empathy apart from giving him meds and food on time sounds like absolutely hell. Even subtle disdain is sure to mess him up further since he can't escape.
So she didn’t kill him? Just locked him away in a psychiatric hospital for the rest of his life?
