i don't understand the ending of ch 2

The brown-haired girl is sewing the mermaid's torn tail and to ease the pain, she bit the girl's shoulder.

but why was she trapped in that net ?

The girl needed to trap the mermaid (with the net) so she could help it, otherwise the mermaid would have escaped

I think she bit her because she thought she was being betrayed
