Omg I'm super confused

Basically they were originally the characters from the book then when they died their bodies got passed over into the “real world” and the MC doesn’t seem to to remember the first life (his book origin story) but the ML does. And now they are in their third life where the ML remembers everything but the MC only recalls (=・ω・=) his second life.
