If he was so brainwashed he wouldn’t still be trying to get with her. He’s not stupid, he knew what he was getting into which is why he didn’t trust her in the beginning. He chose to find that yvanna girl. Because he was obsessive and jealous. He wanted to give her a reason ro run away. Even then when he was “brainwashed” he resisted more than the other cast. Right now he’s just obsessed with her and he’s doing things he know she wouldn’t want. He just want her to feel guilty.

Try to read it from the start, eclis grew up as a slave with no family at all so all he had to do was to rely on Penelope's support. And what did Penelope do? She manipulated him into thinking she will be the only one to love him or be by his side. The original timeline eclis was supposed to go was that he isn't obsessed with Penelope he just brought back yvonne bc it's his job as a knight. Now that Eclis was obsessed with Penelope in this timeline, he wanted to give Yvonne so that Penelope will only trust eclis lmao learn how Eclis became dependent of Penelope bc of her manipulation and don't blame it on Eclis alone.

His brainwashing was incomplete for 2 reasons: first, the mirror was damaged and not at full force, and second - he adores mc so much that he manages to struggle even when that evil goddes is against him, or whatever Yvonne is... that shows how much he cares for the mc if anything.
Truthfully, as I see it the mc mostly hates him bc he turned out as a failed investment. He was supposed to become he most probable ticked way home, but he just didn't give her that last 1% of his rapport...
Well I presume she shouldn't have been so half-assed about him if she really counted on him...
If you doubt the power of the mind control, then look at her "brothers". Although their rapport is also very high, they acted unreasonably towards Penelope because of Yvonne even without fully comprehencing their actions... but it wasn't like they became like zombies, that mirror, as it seems, influences their thoughts and feelings in a certain way so they would act like that... like, their suspicions would be stimulated and twisted... or some other feelings. Eclis has lots of feelings that could be stimulated and directed.
As for "he chose to find that Yvonne"... he didn't though?

Y’all give eclis too much credit if that was the case he would have behaved differently. It’s even stated in the manwha.

I don't know about credit, but he definitely doesn't own her anything. He's a slave, she bought him. Then she played him like a doll to use him. Ppl here talk about his actions as if a slave should know his place and behave like a good little dog without accepting anything, while giving averything to his owner...
    He's a person, you know?
(Or maybe an npc. You never know in this game world...)
And yes, the one really bad thing that he did was setting up those escapees, but bringing a list daughter to her family is certainly not something he can be blamed for. It's not like he knows that she's a cultists' goddes who feeds on ppl and uses some strange form of magic or whatever.

She never forced him too anything and not only that she was trying to set him free. And in the beginning he didn’t trust nor like her. Yes he was a slave but he had a lot more free will and chances to leave. Which he knew he could because she tried to help him leave. He stayed because in the end of the day he wanted to. Ans when he became obsessed with her he started to twist what she said and did for him. Even in the story he acknowledges that he did what he did knowing it’ll hurt her and knowing that he just wanted her to run away with him.

I reread ot myself and he met her in the village. Obviously, she had her own agenda, looking for someone instead of Winter to "lead her in" dramatically... Eclis himself wouldn't even know where to search for her and whether she's alive even if he wanted to pull someth8ng off.
And when he met her and realized who she was (not sure how he recognized her though) he, first of all, tried to kill her, thinking that killing her would make it more secure for his master's position. She just managed to stop him thanx to her powers implemented "in the right spots"...

She never set him free. She just wanted to take off that slavery device attacks him if activated. That doesn't count as setting free. And she only tried to do it after a lot of time passed and when she saw enough rapport value over his head to be sure that it wouldn't backfire at her.
And what "he stayed because he wanted to", if he left after her removing his collar he would just be a runaway slave sentenced to execution. Removing the collar wouldn't have changed his status.
And what he acknowledged wasn't that she would get hurt, but that she would get angry. If anything, he saw her being hurt constantly there where they lived and wanted to help her run away bc he saw how she was tortured there. What he didn't know was that she wanted to flee from this world, not just this mansion...
And also there was this scene... where she begged him to save her... herself. He had all the reasons to try to help her. He just didn't (and couldn't) know that her idea of him helping her meant that he should give her all of his heart without reservations so that she could clear the game and leave this world, throwing him away like some garbage, breaking him to pieces...
