“A little rude” he is straight up an asshole to this old woman for no reason other than he can. He’s a dick to everyone in his vicinity who is trying to help him, so yeah I think he’s annoying.

Yes, he’s afraid to get attached because the only consistent adult in his life has also consistently abandon him to deal with loan sharks alone.

his dad dropped off on a random island and told him to stay with a stranger he's never met before. he's a young adult who's hurt and felt abandoned and took it out on the grandma he didn't even know he had. i mean... it's the first chapter. obviously he's going to grow attached to the people on the island and his grandma.
