Tbh, based on the choice of art, i think the author was just trying to show how infatuated Garam is, not that he was doing anything out of spite. We dont see him going out of his way to compare the ML with his ex until the ex tries to prove something first.
Also, my guess is that the actual dialogue had Garam using some sort of term of endearment, but it likely didnt have the same tone and customary connotation that english-speakers assign to 'babe'. All in all, it doesn't seem like he did it with any spiteful intention.
am I the only one that had major side eye for the “hey babe” ??!!! garam can’t express himself for shit and gets so embarrassed for everything but all of a sudden he’s calling Jae babe j to spite his ex likeeee is that not icky?!!!
