It's just that a bunch of us had our hearts set on the typical lovey-dovey, weddings, blah blah kind of sides but ended up with anxiety over the ex stuff brought upon by the worst friends in one of these things I've seen in a while and light bdsm with a partner clearly not into it.

It's a hard segue.

Trust me when I tell you I'm not averse to any of the plotlines used (check out Swallow You Whole), it's just... Lyle is the type of character you want to see not bound and in tears. At least not until after they're married and completely secure in their relationship.
