Man I remember when this was ongoing and everyone hated ray simply caught they liked kile and thought every other character was issuing kile as a replacement. (Basically readers were jealous on kile’s behalf).

But I also remember being like the only one who genuinely loved ray the most and wanted to see his story. Ngl I do like ray better than mc. As well as liking Asher more than Lou. Which basically means I think this would’ve been way more interesting had the main couple been Asher and ray. Ray was just so cool, and ngl Kile reminded me of Bella from twilight. I cringed a lot. It was to the point that I got sick of seeing kile and lou’s lovey dovey scenes.

The reader was spot on saying that readers didn’t like ray’s ending. It just feels off to me. Like ray was such a big part of the story and these characters had such a huge attachment to him but at the very end they were like “okay cool, you’re alive, anyways-!” After Lou and Asher were trying so hard to find ray and save him, ray and Lou didn’t even have a scene speaking to each other after he woke up. It was so lackluster. I didn’t enjoy the casual, “back to normal” time skip, right away.
My only guess as to why it’s written that way is probably cause the author wanted to focus on the main two’s romance in the end.

And also there a part of me that understands wanting ray to be free to do what he likes, but the other part doesn’t understand why he needs to leave everyone solo. It’s no different from how he left them before. I think a more satisfying ending for ray would’ve been for him to finally settle down in a home and meet with friends and stay with family (kile). After running around all over the place and being alone, being hurt, the conclusion is for him to end up alone again?? Plus why bother including the Asher and ray relationship in the first place if you were just gonna have them separate??? I really wish ray would’ve gotten his side story. But from how the author wanted him dead originally, I guess the author doesn’t care as much about ray’s story.

I also feel like Asher should’ve had a bigger part too. With him being on the cover, creates a misunderstanding that he’d be a huge influence in the story. But a lot of times it felt like he was just a side character and wouldn’t even have much screen time.
