If it's about the prince who is courting her he just felt that he was lied to and most young kids tend to over react on being lied to but after some thought and finding out the truth maybe he felt sorry to her and wanted to rebuild the relationship that they could have BUT if it's about the ex fiance then the dude was just having a inferiority complex and a bit sexist mindset as well that he doesn't want to be beaten by a woman so he just told her to act dumb and forgot that he said that then he wanna have a "smart girl"..... I'm starting to see who's the TRUE dumb character in this manga
I was thinking the same, should she have an accident an truly become dumb, he would abandon her.He could easily use been a prince and needing a healthy wife as an excuse.
And should she get sick in the future and get a weak body because of child bearing, he would probably let her alone to die.
