Idk i got three overprotective brothers and they literally are that way cuz my father raised them like that. Its just overly exaggerated for the plots sake i guess and that is a bit tiring and not at all funny since it causes so many problems irl(true pain speaking lol) but i wouldnt say any weird underlying meanings. But i agree i also hate this trope
Ugh I hate the sibling trope like this and the father who does nothing to stop it cause the daughter looks like mom its always something oddly underlying for me like I totally understand fathers being overprotective because literally your daughter like you can’t take my little girl but siblings I never understand especially when they are totally serious my brother does it to my boyfriend but as a joke they are doing it kind of weird idk maybe I’m sensitive abt it
