Dang... I usually don't notice changes in the art... but it seems like a different comic.. such a massive downgrade! It got way less detailed... especially the clothes and jewelry... and let's be honest... they all went from 9 to 6 in attractiveness... they did the dad dirty...
I also got weirded out by her sudden change... I'd get it changing after the timeskip or something... but like that was really abrupt...
About the brother... I don't have one... but have cousins that are super close and thar we hug a lot... and I must say... I agree with you. They may hug me by the neck/hug my head as jokes because they are taller... but I usually hug chest/waist... at mos one arm over shoulder and the other under the arm... but on the neck like that... only with my husband to hug and pull him for a kiss... so yeah... not woke... that was weird...
I'd understand if she was a kid cuz kids hug the necks cuz they have short arms... but she was being weird.

The pacing is too fast. The art style's sudden change is too obvious. And the whole dynamic with the brother is too intimate.
Ok I fear that it's because I'm too "woke" but that one scene where mc and dad goes to the capital and meets up with the brother is so weird. Ok might just be me but do people actually hug their brother like that? Arms wrapped around their neck? Idk maybe I'm too woke.
I don't like how at the start mc was portrayed at timid and quiet but the moment she was adopted suddenly she's not timid and quiet? How does one go so astray from their original personality??
Lmao I keep laughing at that one panel where mc disses the og novel because the writing was sloppy. Like girl the timeline you're in is also sloppy
