Honestly this is now my top light novel

Seriously it dethroned Omniscient reader and Trash of the counts family for me.

While I am a hardcore found family addict, this series goes beyond. I actually understand a lot of the motivations behind the MC. I'm very different as a person from him. But I can still understand him. I love how the author breathed such life into him ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ

Anyway I love love this romance arc. And I'm looking forward to the Shibal arc next lol.

I salute you incredibly for being able to say this, especially knowing of the kinds of fans ORV and Trash count have. I agree with you so much, except I would like to change the part of "breathed such life into the MC." I feel like EVERY SINGLE character in the book was breathed with such life into them, none were ever forgotten, misused or misplaced. They all meant something in the book, and it was just so refreshing and nice to read.

So sorry for going off the rails, but like you I look forward to the next arc as well :) so glad to see someone having the same opinion as me tbh this novel is fucking insanely good.

I'm part of caleism(a separate fans of tcf fandom where people are obsessed of cale) but i agree that this is good, this is actually my fav big three manhwas! i like how he thinks and the romance too! I'm fan of their ways of showing affections!

Hard agree. As someone who has read both orv and tcf, this far surpasses both of them. There is such humanity to these characters, and no character's struggles are used to glorify the MC. The MC suffers with the character. The fantasy is on-point, but the use of fantasy is to show the human attitude and psyche, which i think orv and tcf don't do. They are great, but their focus is on overcoming the next stage/villain/life-threatening event. Here, there are stakes and life threatening events and awesome fights, but they are purely the backdrop. They do not keep a reader engaged in a story. The characters do, and SSS understands that so well.

Sorry for the long rant, I just relate to you so much.

For me ORV is the best and nothing can top it, but I see where you're coming from. TCF is also a fire story (though I have yet to read the novel for it). But this story is really good and while not as complex as ORV, it's still amazingly written and the characters are fleshed out really well. Like you can tell the author worked hard making them because there's so much detail to everything.

And not all ORV or TCF fans are crazy bro dw

Now that you say it, I hard agree with you! I love how unapologetically the MC loves others.

He loves his teacher(s). He loves his friends. He loves his lover. He eventually loves a lot of people, some of them not even human, in this series. And his love is selfless, he accepts them for who they are. He doesn't try to cheat using his ability. But instead tries to use his ability to love them even more. And him loving them, makes us the readers also love them.

Heck he even loves the inquisitor, who is literally a serial killer. I could never do that. Which is why I admire him.

He reminds me of Natsume from the manga Natsume and his book of friends. In terms of the quiet, unguarded, unapologetic, and non judgemental way he loves and tries to understand everyone he encounters. ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄

Yes this is it. Cale is stoic as a character. In a way, we as readers understand that he loves his people. And funnily enough, his people also recognises that the things he does, is his way of protecting them. But Cale sees himself as doing it for selfish reasons. To live an "easy life" lol.

Whereas Kim Gongja just goes around telling people he loves them. And he not only tells them, he shows them. I guess I just fell in love with this shameless character. He is cringe personified. But in a good way! ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ

Yes yes! You get what I mean exactly!

I'm not sure if you have read the novel, but even with the translation, you can feel the MC's suffering for the other characters.

I read the Manhwa first, before binge reading the novel. And it first hit me in the floor 10 scene. He felt the injustice those kids went through. He felt the fire they went through. And it is why, he felt FOR the children. And which is why we also as readers, feel for both the MC and the kids. That scene, where he looks back at you, with a forlorn look, because he read the level, and he recognises that the children allowed everyone to leave. Even through the fire, they could have burned the other players to death. They could have chosen to be vengeful. But no, instead they let them go. Because they just wanted to play hide and seek. They just wanted to be found. ╥﹏╥

Both the novel and Manhwa makes you feel one with the MC. You see things through the MC's eyes. And the MC sees other characters through his skill. Which means you also feel and learn to love all the other characters. It's a very good use of the fantasy world and the skill in particular.

No no, I get you. I'm still a hardcore ORV and TCF fan. I also love S classes that I raised. (i.e. these are recommendations for anyone who is reading through this thread).

I first fell in love with the fantasy genre through Solo leveling. Like I assume many others will have. There I loved the art, the gaming inspired dungeon world. And the character leveling up so to speak. (I personally don't like the ending though, but that's a different conversation).

Then I can across the above three series. And I fell in love with the found family aspect, within the fantasy setting. I also loved how the MCs were able to use the fantasy setting to their advantage. Both Dokja and Cale, find innovative solutions, to basically save the other characters. Which is why I love them.

But here, I guess the difference is that Gongja doesn't only try to save them. He also tries to understand them. He is a very empathetic guy. I guess I admire him for that reason. He also has a wacked sense of finding solutions. Like killing himself 4000 times, over what 11 years (?), is a crazy ass thing to do. He is selfish and power hungry. But in a relatable way.

I guess the difference for me, personally of course, is that I admire Cale and Dokja. And I want to be like them. But in Gonja's case. I admire him. But I never would like to be like him lol. The guy is a wacko. I would prefer to be one of his friends instead.

But to reiterate, ORV and TCF are still in my top three novels I will reread to the end of my life. It's just that I will reread SSS class suicide hunter maybe an extra time more.

I totally agree! Im also a fan of all three especially like u said orv and tcf but if those are gold Tier, this is diamond Tier. It's amazing! I also really love the romance arc in this one, it was actually mind blowingly amazing!!!
