It’s better this way than the other way around. A puppy-crush character is a pretty common archetype they’re considered complex because of their layered psychology. The ML used those feelings to Leash MC in the past, but in the future the MC becomes twisted and turns those same tactics back on him, basically leashing him instead.
Gosh would it kill the author to not make a kid fall in love with an adult..... i hate this kind of trope....
