But then she was grinning with her siblings days later after she believed him to have died. Makes sense he’d believe the worst afterwards
yes… he is. he can’t put two and two together. why would someone who was really sweet to him betray him? he saw how her family was. then he wants to put her through the same pain she did which is??? he IS stupid AND immature.

Well considering he was betrayed and exiled by his own family, it would actually make more sense for him to believe she betrayed him from the get-go. Instead he didn’t and tried finding things out. It’s not about stupidity.
It is about his stupidity. If anything if he knew his family betrayed him it'd make more sense for him to understand that her family hates her and would force her to act happy to keep up public appearances. He's also a royal so he should understand how important public aplearances are. The author of this manhwa just can't write and wants to have a needless misunderstanding because they're allergic to character depth. Or it's their first time writing a manhwa; which, fair.

Understanding that makes sense for us because we have a broad picture of the whole thing. The fact that he now thinks she was living a good life and he doesn’t know anything about the way her siblings basically tortured her pretty much means he didn’t do enough research, not that he’s stupid.
As far as writing abilities, there’s not much to say except for the fact that it’s the only way we can evaluate great storytelling vs a nice or mediocre story. I like the story enough to just read what’s been given instead of thinking about the better ways the writer could’ve handled it. From the way the story was written, my understanding is that the ML isn’t meant to be stupid, but that he’s rather shortsighted and heart broken, probably also because of the betrayal he’s already gone through
