Just giving my opinion too so I'm not judging you i swear
It makes sense that you'd think that, but Eclis is actually a pretty smart guy. He knew from the start that Pen was using him—but he didn’t care, because at least it meant he had her attention.
Yeah, I do feel bad for him. Things might have been different if he wasn’t just seen as a tool or a toy. But that was never really an option—he was already a slave when Pen found him.
He’s always had that unhinged side, ever since his kingdom fell. Even from the first moment Pen met him, it was there. He knew she needed him, so he pretended to be loyal just long enough to get close enough to kill her. But somewhere along the way, he fell in love and eventually stopped his plan.
To be fair, Pen did try to give him some freedom. She never used his collar, never forced him to do anything brutal, and even let him go to help his homeland. And in the end he still betrayed her.
This isn’t me disagreeing with your opinion—I just wanted to share how I personally saw Eclis. It’s actually really cool to see different perspectives, and I totally get why you see it the way you doヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~

Same all I wanted for him was to live a peaceful life after some therapy. Everyone saying Eclis to just die or blaming him solely makes me so sad. Penelope had her fair share and so did Eclis but why does Penelope get all the pitying while Eclis is told to die. If my kingdom falls down overnight and I turn into a slave, I will too look for even a slightest amount of affection and hold onto it and yvonne comes brainwashes him making this situation worse.

Hmm I get your pov. It's true that he always had that small side of him that looked kinda dark, but I really believe that the way Pen treated him, as a tool, was what shamed him and in the end tragged him towards the road of his downfall. I just wish he could meet someone that would heal him, cuz he is just so broken and messed up now...

True, I feel like if he had the right people around him and the chance to grow in a safe environment, he could’ve become a truly unique and special character. He had the presence of someone who could’ve been a great king to his homeland, and I genuinely loved his character—it brought such depth and potential. I hope that, in some other life, he got the chance to be with his homeland and fulfill what he was meant for ╥﹏╥
Idc, juge me all ya'll want. I pity Eclis. Bro got manipulated by both girls. First, she used him for her survival, trying to raise favorability not by being herself but by trying to match what he wanted, which twisted him. Then, (poison)Yvonne is manipulating him all over again when she already made a mess of him. Don't go saying that FL is the victim, when Eclis is also a victim in this situation... shure, what he did was wrong, and she felt betrayed, and this has broken their bond for good ( I'm kinda sad cuz I really liked him) but to me, he was like a blank paper that was twisted into becoming what he now is, which is sad.
