I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we aren't privy to yet. On the surface, it's probably then telling others "he's our God so we give him sacrifices for a wish" but there's probably underlying stuff going on that are much more sinister.
I mean in that last bit he seemed happy to devour the whole family. That sounds more like a grudge then it does a guardian God of their family.
I think I’m missing smth cuz why the fuck does it matter that the sacrifice is alive or not? Like cheer with joy cuz you ain’t gonna need to sacrifice another person for a minute? And if the god they so gladly worship decides to keep him alive, who do these fuckers think it’s gonna happen if they take him back by force?
