Hopefully you’re up to date cause it wasn’t just the father who misunderstood, it was the mother who did as well- which is why she prevented the father from seeing his kid. Both families were receiving false info that the other were doing terrible things. And both families believed that info. Everyone is in the wrong.

It’s due to the antagonist. The person who is the one driving the families apart. That person has powers to control people. So the father was controlled to kill the pregnant mother. That’s what actually happened in the OG story (the one FL said was in the book). But this time, the dad snapped out of it and in order to stop himself, he stabbed himself. The mother still witnessed what happened and likely was afraid of the dad harming them regardless. When he got back, the brother misunderstood and thought the mom hurt the dad. So it’s just a bunch of more misunderstandings. (The FL was not kidding about how many misunderstandings the plot had lmao)
This isn’t a misunderstanding it’s straight up ignorance. He know her actual personality y is he a fool randomly believing rumors. And the MC just assimilating into the new family is ridiculous. She should have done something major from the beginning. Refused to eat and called him a bastard because this man sent men to kill your family and kidnap you. Literally responsible for her people starving because he is cutting off trade routes. I feel like this would have been solved already if her head wasn’t full of flowers .
