Yeah I'm guessing couple as in "two people or things of the same sort considered together." Not the romantic sense.
I’m pretty sure nobody except the people they’ve told + a couple teachers knows they’re cousins. Otherwise he wouldn’t be treated like that anymore. Plus nobody ever brings up his mom.
