I think the changing point in this season began when jk read that birthday note. because after that, he fixates on finding dan to sort out his feelings. his fixation only grows following dan’s avoidance. in none of that, was jk fixated for sex. it was only to get back to peak condition. jk even said that him and dan could go their separate ways for all he cares once he gets his body back.
the sex was brought up and initiated by dan since dan thinks all jk wants from him is his body which is now jk’s undoing because he was running his damn mouth for 50ish chapters saying exactly that. jk has to deal with the fact that he created this problem and now dan is a constant in his life that he cannot and does not want to get rid of. furthermore, dan’s incessant drinking and self-destructive behavior is eating away at his soul and he doesn’t understand why dan won’t stop either.
that hug (in front of everyone), jk’s face when he realized dan was alive, dan’s reflection in his eye… it was the culmination of everything from the whole damn story up to that point. especially considering jk and dan’s first reunion after over a month apart took place following dan almost drowning.
I really don’t know where the story goes from here, but I hope dan rejects jk. for the plot, the remorse, the apology, and the acknowledgment of past behavior. jk himself has already changed so much since the beginning, I want to see how much further he’ll go to change for dan and what trajectory he’ll take for his career.
