The reason Abel couldn't identify captain commander as Karas may be due to his eyes being silver but My instinct is saying Abel is purposely playing dumb. I guess Abel deep down knows that it's karas but that's just my theory. What I'm trying to say is present Karas has silver eyes and he has grown huge compare to the Puny child like karas with golden eyes that Abel knows.
