I get thoroughly more confused about why our MC everytime I read this. Clearly she had issues before but ML seems to have no clue, so was she chosen randomly?

Why does the father need to be monitored?
Again, this is hearsay, but apparently her father is like some mad scientist from Russia trying to find her for whatever reason. So she was the one being monitored/hidden. And the Bird Box mission was ordered by her mother, allegedly.
Okay so was the mission just about how susceptible humans are to influence when they have lost one of their senses? So practically it was a human experiment?
Cause it definitely wasn't an experiment about how MC herself will act because they didn't do a deep enough dive on her background (?). Like ML didn't seem aware that she used to do gymnastics?
Could've been about experimenting that blindness solution but I doubt it because ML called it the Bird Box Mission, like it was about trapping and keeping a bird in a controlled environment but the controlling factors was the missions goal.
