I didn't really pay attention to it the very first time since i read too many manhwa at the same time i forgot some of the scenes, but now that i think about it, i always thought that doram at least has a background privilege family to read and access books that's why when he first met his teacher, he already read a few books. These past few chapters made it clear that doram at least from middle to upper class family or at least influential, like from a devoted believer whom from generation to generations being a "servant" to God. Some "legit" shaman really do have high ranking back in those days.

Remember back in those days, especially joseon era, korea is still under "chinese" authority/occupation, not everyone can read hanja or hanzi or even have the privilege to be near a book, that's why king sejeong made hangeul (korean alphabetical system) which is "less complicated" version of hanzi so that commoners can also write and read it.

Now I'm intrigued by Doram's family background like what they look like or how they interact and such back in those days before his family committed a "treason" and labeled as traitor cause if i remember correctly, back in those days even the ENTIRE BLOODLINE could get killed by the king even if only one of them committed treason (the least punishment would be, they will be exiled on a desert island) So I'm kinda intrigued to see how doram and his little brother (if he even alive) survive all of that... Like that's some crazy shit if you think about it, especially if you're a kdrama watcher, you must think that it's crazy too for the king or crown prince to make a "traitor's" son as their spouse, let alone crown princess, not even concubine or sum ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
