From what I read from the novel their gender was never confirmed they could change to a woman or man

I'm so mad they ignored the fact that originally Dolshi was a gender shifter who constantly went from male to female. Like what was even wrong with that? Now the dynamic with McKenna where Male Dolshi = bickering and hate / female Dolshi = McKenna is crazy in love will be totally ruined.
My hope is that we've yet to see the dragon in the female form. Here's to hoping.
