What’s that?
Ok after some research it’s a person who is one or multiple of these things.
1- a person who tried to cheat death.
2- a person guilty of the ultimate sin- hubris (a human thinking they are better or on the same level as a god)
3- a person who puts all their energy into a thing with no end in sight. Like how sisphyus pushes the rock endlessly up the hill just for it to fall to the bottom.
4- a person exiled to eternal torment
5- a person who knows or worries their efforts are futile but still engages in it. Essentially resilience.
I don’t know what they mean when they say he is one BUT my theory of what or who he is is a science experiment that ended up leading to the creation of the zombies. Because he knows nothing I think he was raised in a lab where they didn’t care to teach him anything just raising him for experiments. He probably was told some story about a utopia with rules and all that jazz when he was a kid or something and that’s how he got the protectiveness for the town and all that. I have no clue but I’m excited for the story to play out.
it would make sense for him to have been raised in a lab bc he came from under the debris so maybe bc the lad got destroyed

Rain explained it very well, but in my theory a Sisphyus is somebody who’s is a character from Greek mythology who was punished by the gods. His punishment was to push a huge boulder up a hill forever but every time he got close to the top, the boulder would roll back down, and he had to start again.
But I’m not saying he was punish by gods I’m saying he might’ve done something or doomed himself into eternal sin, because he takes care of the village, and he’s always doing work or something, not to mention in one of the chapters they mention him holding a boulder.
Sisyphus represents:
Endless, repetitive work
Struggle with no finish line
Never giving up, even when success is impossible
I feel like the kid turnt into a zombie!! And there’s also no chance Guwon isn’t a Sisphyus!
