I think it was explained that it’s because he fears getting hurt? He killed all of his siblings because of getting hurt once by one of them, but he let Edgar live just cuz he’s young. I believe? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

In their past lives, Edgar and Marius used to be close like Edgar and the ML dating the 2nd sister are now. Edgar led a revolt again Marius because of his feelings for FL in first time line and because Marius was killing FL's people/siblings (?). Post-regression Marius is wary of future Edgar trying to kill him again.

it’s not that he hates him, when edgar stood against him in the first timeline, marius felt betrayed bc he really cared for him a lot so he’s scared of getting betrayed again, he later realizes through lily what he’s doing is wrong
