There's still this tiny bit of hope hidden in her dialogue though. Before we get into the whole rebirthing Emi thing she talked about how Emi became a part of her, admitting she might still be with her. To me it was not only speaking about it in a literal soul-esque sense but also from a point where this ideal of Emi's Remilia started to become a part of Remilia herself. Her love may not be as unconditional as Emi's but it is still there. It learned to be there because Emi taught it to Remilia. What may have started with honouring Emi's Remilia has evolved into doing the right thing because she simply wants to be good.
I think Remilia's and Angel's relationship will get to a point where Remilia can truly realize that while Angel learns to love the real Remilia. It's simply that if Remilia is supposed to get with anyone they have to first like Emi, otherwise it's just not working out lmao.
At least that's my hopeful take on it. It's still highkey depressing though because no way you twist it Remilia's and Emi's love for each other is tragic.
That's fucking depressing. Amazingly done, gorgeously written and drawn, but God, how depressing. Remilia doesn't love him and he doesn't really love her. What they share, what allows them to stay together whether Angel knows it or not, is how much they love Emi. Oh goooood. She loves her so much. The closest she comes to loving another, is when she can most accurately act like Emi and be loved for it.Sorry, I keep repeating myself, but she just loves Emi so much. Nothing compares. I love this story and it's the greatest gl on here, whether it's intended to be read that way or not.
It's Emi that disappeared, yet it's Remilia that isn't allowed to exist, except on the edge of existence itself. Remilia can't ever exist, because that alone would feel like a betrayal of Emi, which Remilia can't live with.
