When a culture is allowed to rape and victims grieving isn't socially accepted this is what happens. It becomes normalised, romanticized, fetishized and is used in writing because it is the only way to cope

It's not a way to cope. That's just a lame excuse. Thise people are just rape apologist and homophobic

It unfortunately is just a way to cope even if you don't think so. Just like how drug addicts and alcoholics sing and boast about it even though they know ultimately it's not good for you even after losing people close to them. Korea is packed with avid hatred towards women with abusive men so it makes sense that horrid stuff like this is in the "romance" category when for a lot of women (not just in Korea) this is the reality of their relationships and how they start.

Pushing the heavy stuff onto men for some authors can help, it puts their reality onto who is usually the offender so that they temporarily are not the victim. It doesn't necessarily mean they're a rape apologist or fetishizer but moreso that their view on love is skewed by their environment or they desperately need an outlet where they can turn something horrific that's happened to them into something positive like a "romance" story.

And if you look into the comments sections of so many stories like this it's flooded with people eventually liking the rapist characters in the end anyway for being "great partners" or "redeeming themselves".

Agreed. Coping can be anything, it’s just the category it’s in, negative coping or positive one.

Last paragraph, so true. It’s like this 100%

You just described rape culture darling

It's not a way to cope. It's just what abusers wants you all to think

You feel likes it help to cope, because slowly your subconscious is accepting those behaviours, making it seems "not that bad". On the short term maybe it can help. On the long term, this is dangerous.

Plus ,all of this is heavily motivated by internalised homophobia and fetishism. It's not for nothing that they represent gay men in abusive relationship so much. Because they think it's kinda okay and normal for a gay couple to act this way, but also because so many think that a man cannot be a victime

Saying it "help them to cope" while glamourizing the trauma of other kind of victim (gay men and men in general) is utterly disgusting.
Just because you have trauma doesn't give you a free pass to be a shitty human being.

Because yes, ending up liking a RAPIST bc he's "not so bad" is rape culture.
"Help to cope". No. It's called being a actor of this culture. And when you support it or accept it, you have no rights to complain about SA.
You cannot cry about rape culture, when you support rape culture. Just bc it's about gay men does not change the facts that a rapist is a rapist

But to understand that, you should have more than 2 braincells fighting for the thrid place

Plus the last paragraph. Ew. That's what so dangerous about all those stories.
Ending up liking a rapist bc he stopped raping people.
This is just building more and more acception and excuses for rape, compassion for rapist, and brain dead people with uge gay fetish

Agreed but then there will be people who come and say: Stop complaining go read something else, or the: it’s just fiction.
