that's the point, to what extent does loyalty amount to? he knew their purpose beforehand and chose to kill them x he could have told them that he couldn't betray a friend
Maybe because he thought they wanted to kill his friend?
I think...if they knew about his promise, about how he knew the guy since he was a child they could at least respect the loyalty he held.
It is rare to find someone so genuine, true, and loyal to his oaths.
