i could def see that, regardless he regretted whatever his actions were in his previous life and went back in time to appreciate what he had!
That's pretty much spot-on.
ML was left paralyzed, and all he could do was move his eyes and open his mouth a bit (to eat; his vocal cords were also affected iirc). The servants who'd always loyally served him before now manhandled him enough to cause pain and/or bruising, force-fed him bland mush, often did a shoddy job cleaning the room or washing his body, stole valuables, gloated over how far he'd fallen, etc. They ended up forcing the job of caregiver on his wife, who was already treated like crap in the household, and she was the only one who treated ML like a person, rather than a spectacle to be scorned.
Ultimately, some assassins broke in, FL got stabbed trying to protect ML, and they both died when the house burned down.
okay i predict!!!!! that ml remembers the future/got sent back in time, and that work trip he was supposed to go on that would have ended up in a horrible accident likely injured him for a long time/permanently. fl prob stood by him when everyone left bc he was incapacitated, nursed him or whatever. he dies of his wounds and is sent back in time, so he decides his wife deserves more than what he was giving before
