jpn version has a physical release! i believe it just got rerun again (or the mangaka is planning on another rerun of it, they mentioned it recently on twitter). unfortunately there’s no physical version for the official en release of vol 1/2 afaik

Are you knowledgeable what factors makes jp mangas potential candidates for official en physical releases? Just really want to understand how it works.
only jpn, i fear </3 i’d kill for an EN one someday, especially because the official EN publisher hasn’t translated volumes 3 or 4 (hence the unofficial TL we’re getting now…) and i would love to have them.
unfortunately i’m not super knowledgable about the topic :( but based on my understanding & what i’ve seen of how things operate wrt publisher announcements i think it’s a good part fan demand and a good part pure luck. it also depends on the genre a lot i think (ex. how few GL get announced for volume releases when big publishers like Seven Seas do reveals), popularity…. again i’m not super knowledgeable but from what i know these factors are all involved. pittosporum has scored really high on a lot of fan manga rankings & has made it into a lot of bonus anthologies / themed BL events + there’s a decent handful of merch for it… so there’s always hope and a chance its JPN popularity will signal a desire for physical EN release…. but i’m not super expecting it anytime soon much as i’d love to see it as a big fan of this one. ╥﹏╥

It makes sense now why there's bl rankings in twitter from official jp channels. Man... it's kinda sad that int. readers are at the mercy whether or not the manga we like will get popular. :((( like you I really wish this manga will get an en version in the future. It's such a good story to add to a BL collection
no prob! it’s not much, but i’m happy to provide whatever info i can. it really is so sad that intl readers are at the mercy of publishers the way we are though ╥﹏╥ i’m quite the GL enjoyer myself so it really hits doubly hard because they barely license any and it’s…. not ever really anything appealing. it’s so difficult. but here’s hoping for pittosporum one day!!! i have the jpn copies because i love the story so much i wanted a copy of it Somewhere & the 4-vol set was cheap to snag in jpn but i’d be over the moon to have EN copies. (i don’t buy physicals often because they get pricey,,, but i would absolutely be willing to support this. so maybe someday!!!)
