I still don't understand why the organization didn't just kill off her husband persona. Him just disappearing just doesn't make sense but him "dying in a tragic accident" would at least give her some closure so she could move on.
Anyway he most definitely fell in love with her and refuses to accept or even recognize it that's why he's so obsessed with her.
