It’s because he wants to die but mugo won’t kill him, I’m assuming he ran away to commit die
His whole goal in life was to die so that people around him wouldn’t have him on his mind with the logic he’s a bother, as seen by a childhood memory of his caretaker/father(?) being punished on his behalf. So, to be told by 1/3 of the Mugos not to destroys shatters his reality, and he went into a “what’s the point of life” panic attack.

In previous chapter his family came to visit him and delivered a phone to him meant to keep tabs on Mugo from the people controlling his family/sacrifices.
This chapter he is reminded of his past life, the guilt he felt of being a burden to his family since they were also punished for him being "damaged." Because of this, he had to trick himself into thinking that he and his family will find joy in his death by Mugo.
Now, that he is living quite well with Mugo and got suddenly reminded of his past, his reality is disturbed. He begged Mugo(the one who made a promise to give him eternal peace) to kill him but he refused. So he ran away thinking that nothing in his life truly mattered at all and he never actually lived.
I guess he doesn't want to betray him

He wants to die for the benefit of his family bc the head family is threatening him, but when he tries to seek help from lord hugo to kill him so he can properly fulfill his role, sir hugo refuses. The Mc spent his whole life getting ready to be a sacrifice, but since everything is going to shit right now he's basically having a mental breakdown
