I thought the main cast was all in their early to mid-twenties, which would make him at least 10 years older than the princess is. And that’s not how grooming works. He’d have to be raising her into the kind of woman he wants in order for that to be the case. And in these types of settings, being engaged doesn’t mean they stay together until marriage. They literally meet in public places or with a chaperone, and sometimes they never meet again until the wedding.
