It's just a somewhat common joke in American culture to call New Jersey a hellhole lol (because it is). Tho tbf people just call every single state in the US a hellhole. I've seen the New Jersey hate mentioned a lot in movies (I think it was in the animated Addams Family too?). If you ever visit New Jersey DO NOT go to Camden - sincerely a former New Jersey resident
