Okay, but I still gotta ask…

This isn’t a fantasy genre (other than being omegaverse) so: 1- Why are Karelyl’s pupils diamond shaped? 2- Why does he have those little tattoo-like markings under his eyes? Someone please explain this to me, cause I really want to know.

Sometimes those things are just drawing style and a character design choice instead of being relevant to the story

Hmmm, well- that sorta depends… something like a pure blooded Asian being a natural redhead or blond I can handle. However, if they had green or pink hair (in a non-fantasy setting, and without explanation) I would find it distracting as a reader. That’s because fiction is supposed to have enough realism for readers to find it believable. An author should adjust their designs enough to match the realism level of the genre.

Well that’s just my opinion as a long retired young adult fantasy novelist. (It’s been more than 15 years since I wrote something) These days I’m more into business management, but from a marketing perspective I still believe an author who writes “not as a hobby” but “as a marketable profession” should stick to that standard.

It’s completely fine for us to have different opinions about this. My opinion may be old fashioned anyway.

No, it's totally cool. I can see where you are coming from and I would have a lot of similar stories and settings i would definitely agree that doesn't match the characters. But respectfully in my opinion in the anime/manga/manhwa productions, since this is all a form of imagination and how much the author would stick up to the setting and realism is up to the author and still in my opinion unique pupil designs for being able to differentiate characters since early character design sketchings is popular. I can see why it would bother you that it doesn't have any explanation and is just a thing! I think the darkness under karlyle's is a drawing style preference of what would be an eyebag, or that's how i interpreted it while reading. And as for Ash i think it's just a characteristic and im up for it. Its totally valid that you are not. And please don't think it's old fashioned because everyone's opinion is valuable and precious, i enjoyed reading your comment.
