It's a world I would want to live in; instead of crimes in real-time, no one will be hurt if they do this and potential criminals will be convicted and monitored even before they act on it. The ending is good because he got his karma, even though what he did are just virtual reality. His mother now knows how horrible his son is, and he will never be given a chance of a "good life" just as he deserves it for "killing" people
