Well, all their Bloodlines weakened over the generations, so maybe the curse weakened as well, and the hawk people just never reported it to keep their power as law enforcer.
Maybe that is even the real reason the family head got hurt (they no longer die when lying but get disabled instead).
I have a suspicion that the hawk people who can’t lie somehow messed up with the reports and were investigating the snake people instead? and therefore were never lying? Since the snake people are doing the experiments (don’t ask me how they messed up tho cuz idk)
