    It’s sooooooo common tbh. I’ve read a pretty good amount of stories where they use “I love you” or something similar as a safe word. I think it’s because they assume they would never develop feelings for each other so they use something they would never say.

    I didn't know this was a trend. It seems like such a bad idea to make a person associate "I like/love you" with negative intimate experiences, it just messes with their head. It supposedly preventing feelings from developing does not make sense to me

    Sorry, I ment a trend for fics and manhwas, should have been more precise. It's just such a silly thing to add for dramatics. I found it off putting when the ML did it, especially since he is supposed to be an experienced dom
